KTM introduced by an Austrian engineer Johann Trunkenpolz set up a metalworking and locksmith shop in Mattighofen , Austria In 1934. In the beginning he started selling DKW motorcycles and Opel cars the following year 1937.
After a long journey with full efforts and struggle the KTM passed his travel. As a sports fighter KTM first prepared and given an entrance at the International 6 Days Enduro where Egon Dornauer acquired a gold medal in 1956. So that time KTM standing on the world horizon as a known brand specially in two wheeler sports bikes.
KTM took a great step to Asian and build a joint venture with Bajaj an Indian Motorcycle manufacturer Corporation. So The KTM 390 Duke made by Bajaj Auto in collaboration with KTM.
The Duke 390 as standard motorcycle made in India with the displacement of 373.2 cc single-cylinder engine. It was presented in EICMA show in Milan, Italy in 2012. and the sale initially soled in June, 2013 in Indian. KTM got a great business share from Indian Market and become a symbol for Bajaj.
After this success Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO KTM announced strategies to export the Duke 390 to the America for 2014. According to Bajaj’s assumed that they will be sold bikes in more than 70 countries worldwide. However, KTM-Sport motorcycle is most commonly associated with the iconic KTM branding, because it still continues the flagship business of its parent company.
