Ariel Motor Company Announces the launch of the newest addition to the family of Ariel-Ariel Ace motorcycle. ACE represents the first new Ariel motorcycle for over 50 years and is based on a story that began in 1870, making revolutionary cycling and patenting of the wheels spokes.
Most recently known for the iconic Atom, Ariel were famous in the last century for innovative motorcycles such as the 4 cylinder Ariel Square 4 and race 2, supported by steel frame Ariel arrow. The new Ace strengthens the tradition of Ariel, old and new, what is the best in craftsmanship, performance, quality and the British innovation.
The new bike will be low volume by Ariel in their factory near Crewkerne, Somerset, in equal quantities of 100-150 motorcycles per year in addition to the atom sports car. Commands now takes for the ACE with production starting at the beginning of 2015.
ACE is based on the relationship of long standing between Ariel and Honda, which began with the Ariel atom. The new moto features a 1237cc Honda V4 engine and drive system combine the best of high and low values of engineering, materials and volume as well as the production of a system of construction that has never been seen on a motorcycle production.
The unique way in which Ariel builds vehicles can be adjusted every moto and equipped with the individual choices of the clients to them exactly the bike they want and customize for their own use and taste. Each Ace motorcycle will be rubbed by a technician of Ariel in a Bay individual building, as with the Atom sports car, provides customers with a much greater degree of personal relationship with the building of their bike and the person, build on the point of being able to visit their bike in the building. Ariel Ace motorcycle Frame
Heart of the ACE is an aluminum frame machined from a solid billet with welded construction that affects all fixing points in different variants of the Ace sub frame, fuel tank, body and suspension options. Never before seen on a production motorcycle follows the detailed study and beauty of functional form apparent in the frame a tradition founded by Ariel with the Atom.
The load bearing frame stiffness, which is larger than industry standards, carries the engine, different seat packages, front and rear suspension, as well as a safety cell provides the fuel tank. Ariel Ace motorcycle Suspension

Rear suspension is by Pro Link single sided cast aluminium swing arm, containing the shaft drive, with options of different gas damper. Again an Ohlins option with compression, rebound and spring adjustment is available tuned specifically to the Ace. Both front and rear suspension are further tunable by Ariel to provide different heights, spring rates and special use requests.
Wheels, brakes and tires of Ariel Ace motorcycle
Front brakes are dual Nissin floating 320mm discs with 6 hydraulic pistons while the rear are 276mm disc Nissin 2-piston (more than a DCT transmission parking brake). All versions of the Ace have electronic ABS brakes with switchable traction control. Options of Brembo brakes will be available when the Ace between production and final testing once were closed. Goodridge hose and fittings are used throughout the Ace for all lines of brake and clutch with an option of light fittings and Goodridge Kevlar.
The wheels are five and seven spoke alloy with BST wheels option to full carbon fibre and aluminium light specially designed for the ACE. Carbon wheels showed a gain over 50% weight alloy wheels and centralize the weight due to the lighter rim, which improves performance and handling.
All the ACEs will come with a choice of Dunlop tires. With an association dating back to 1895 when Dunlop and Ariel actually share trademarks and manufactured bicycles, it is particularly appropriate that the relationship must be revived with the Ace. While Dunlop continued to focus on the production of tires that Ariel focused cycles before moving on to motor vehicles a few years later, then the cars and motorcycles. Ariel Ace motorcycle Bodywork
In the center of the Ace, modularity is the interchangeable bodywork and seats. Various bodywork is available with different tanks, mudguards, huggers, covers radiator, hooves, screens and fascia’s. All are available in carbon fiber or composite standard. A selection of standard colors from Ariel will be available plus the option of painting any color required or special paint and color combinations. The fuel tanks are available in three different qualities from 14.1 to 21.3 Liters. Other fairings, screens, tanks and seats will become available as progresses the Ace production.
Ariel Ace motorcycle Seats
There are three versions of seats – car low, with passenger passenger seat additional and removable, a seat and a solo sport seat. The low seat has a seat height of 745mm allowing all riders to have both feet firmly on the ground and has the option of a corresponding passenger seat quickly added or removed. The low saddle illustrated shows just one of the possibilities for different materials and choice of trim. Created by Master SADDLER, who holds a Royal warrant, the seat uses three different types of leather and stitching. Almost unlimited possibilities of color, materials and trim as well as the use of master craftsmen to fit each bike according to rigorous standards demonstrates the care and attention possible retail with the unique capacity of Ariel.
A slightly higher seat is a second option, again with trim, hardware and stitch options and passenger retractable/folding features feet ankles. This feature is also comes on the low passenger seat and allows the driver to simply fold the footrests when not in service, creating a clean line but passenger footrests available at the desired time. The footrest will lock releasing upwards or downwards by a zipper on the back of the footrest bracket.
Solo seat higher than a riding position more sport and is again available with a variety of trim options and different seat upholstery, in addition to an option of carbon fiber.
Ariel Ace motorcycle Controls
Three levels of foot will be available – low, medium and high – in addition to the different seats to the seating position desired for each client and their use. All commands and the footrests are machined aluminum, available in different anodised finishes and are also adjustable to different positions. Instruments and electronics
Instrumentation is via a Race technologies LCD dash, also found on the Atom. The instruments are equipped with programmable gearshift lights plus multi-screen information can be set and pushed through by the rider. Control buttons are on the left side of the Ace behind the head. Readouts for RPM, speed, oil pressure, temperature, voltage, ambient temperature and water with extra fuel warning lights for ABS, traction, indicator, low fuel consumption, main beam and neutral plus alarm clock system give the rider a master page information on all aspects of the bike. Another possibility is the addition of a data logger that performance in real time as well as log on can show in a built-in SD card.
The Honda HISS (Honda ignition Security System) is used on the ACE, along with an important steering lock activated. Further Tracker systems are available as options on the bike. Switchable traction control and electronically controlled ABS are both standard on the Honda VFR just as a standard diagnosis and allow connections service service functions to quickly and efficiently run.
All lighting on the Ace will be led, with a 140 mm headlight with cutting edge optics, which mimic natural sunlight, housed in a lightweight, die cast aluminum housing. Tail, brake lights and indicators are also driven for better performance and longer life led. Battery and electronic components are housed under the seat and tank units.
Parts, auto body, tuning parts and accessories will be further developed as part of an ongoing ACE design and engineering to expand program options. As with the Ariel Atom new parts retro-fit compatible allowing Ace motorcycles be updated for a period of time or if further developments will be made.
Ariel’s goal has been to provide the highest standards of design and engineering, in a variety of materials, with the craftsmanship and the special skills that are available in low volume production are technically interesting.
